Aqua – Acoustic Quality is pleased to announce that a new LinQ Core firmware release is available (v. 1.4). This release is updated to the latest changes introduced by Roon version 1.8 build 904 with respect to HQPlayer and indicated to be operational on Monday, February 28.
The team is particularly satisfied with the work done as they were informed of these changes only on February 24, and a considerable effort was necessary to avoid inconveniences to the customers. The fast turnaround for this update was only possible because Aqua, having the required know-how, develops its devices 100% internally. In addition, Aqua is in contact with Jussi of HQplayer (Signalyst) in order to provide the best support for any future improvements.
Note: the new update is fully operational, but it has been noticed that these days Roon releases new versions at very short intervals. For this reason, it would be advisable to disable the automatic Roon updates, and only update after a new release appears stable enough.
Please also note that HQplayer Embedded starting from this release (4.29.3) requires an Internet connection to work.
Update Process
The update can be done via the LinQ’s front panel or via a web browser.
Since all the LinQ’s modules operate independently, if the update is done via the front panel, one must select the physical slot where the HQP Core module is installed. It’s important to note that the HQP Core module (in my case installed in slot M3) works in tandem with the NAA module (slot M1). While the latter is selected when listening to the HQP input, the Core module slot M3 needs to be selected when doing the update from the front panel. The NAA module does not require updating.
Alternatively, one can use a web browser, enter http://linqcore/main.php, and click “Check” and then “Update”. This will update the Core Module, no matter the selection on the LinQ’s front panel.
