Entry into the World of Wadia
Although this was Wadia’s cheapest DAC, it is not a low-cost product. While it has least of the Wadia-typical character, it is still an upgrade even for 1000+ euro CD players. Especially considering its low-cost second hand, this could still be a nice step up for anyone who doesn’t want to spend too much.
I used the 12 for quite a while in combination with a Sony XA50ES CD player as transport, and that sounded pretty good, definitely better than the player on its own. Like all Wadias the 12 is not the most fluid dac around but the sound is very natural, rhythmic and lively and detailing is never in question. When I later upgraded the Sony player, the Wadia 12 still proved to be an upgrade when connected as DAC to the Meridian 507 cd player.
