Apertura room. Apertura speakers with Audiomat integrated amplifier and Playback Designs digital source. “Good sound with a not-too-expensive setup”, according to Marc Loubeau
The Playback Designs sample was the model MPS-6 DAC/SACD player from the new Edelweiss series. Playback Designs MPD-6 has the same technology as the more expensive and well-known MPS-8. “It helped for sure to make the sound of this room very natural, fluid, and analog-like.”

Press Release, Wuppertal, 25th May 2022
The Audio Industry is overjoyed to meet up again at the High End 2022
From the organizer, exhibitors, or visitors – the voices at the HIGH END 2022, which celebrated its comeback from 19th to 22nd May in Munich, all said the same thing. After a forced hiatus due to the pandemic, the international audio trade show was filled with powerful emotions and pure passion. Not only the great joy of meeting up with people whom everyone had missed for so long but the enthusiasm for the vast number of innovations on display, provided for a consistently upbeat mood among the exhibitors and 19,767 visitors in the halls and atriums of the MOC Event Center.
Fantastic atmosphere all around the showground
Stefan Dreischärf, Managing Director of the organizer, the HIGH END SOCIETY Service GmbH, was extremely pleased with how things went during the four-day audio trade show. The successful relaunch more than met the optimistic expectations. “The HIGH END is back, and we are overjoyed that it was such a resounding success”, said Dreischärf. “The feedback from our exhibitors, not to mention the trade public, the visitors, and the press, was overwhelming.” Finally, something you could reach out and touch again, enjoy the music, sound, and volume with all the senses, or be able to more effectively judge the dimensions of the new developments in products and services. It was a multitude of impressions from participants that the experienced trade show manager and his dedicated team took in over the course of the trade show.

Christian,
Thanks for taking the time to pull all those photos together as you didn’t attend the show. I love reading about and seeing Euro audio shows they’re always so relatively large and filled with gear we never see here in the states. Some really cool looking speakers this year and nice seeing some big horns as always.
Cheers,
Jon
Thanks for your kind feedback, Jon! I agree, there were many interesting rooms and I wish I could have been there. Surprisingly, creating this article took about as much time as walking the show in person. I spent two full days sorting, cropping, retouching, scaling and providing comments for the massive amounts of pictures that I was sent. But I am really happy with the result and I actually almost feel like I have attended the show myself!
Great photo’s thanks Christiaan, a real pleasure to look through for those of us unable to travel there. One question – do you know the brand of the rack used in the Absolare/Rockport room?
The rack in the Absolare/Rockport room is made by Stabilian and this rack is often associated with Absolare. See also this HFA YouTube video showcase.
