Personally, I would not invest that kind of money in such an old DAC. Sure, it is legendary, and still impressive in some respects, but outdated in many other respects. Personally, I would rather opt for a more recent Wadia such as the 27 or 521.
Yes, and 27ix. All fine DACs. However, all 27 iterations do use a lot of power (60 Watts, I believe) and they get very hot. At some point, probably sooner than later, they may need recapping. The 521 does not have that issue and is more recent. It has a smoother sound whereas the 37 has the drier balance of the classic Wadias.
Thank you Christiaan,
unfortunately the 521 is difficult to find. Do you have in mind maybe some other DACs to find only used, which can be a bargain even today, under the price of 3.000 euro +/-? Not only Wadia I mean.
There was a 521 on highendaudio.nl 2 days ago. Might be worth enlisting there so you get an update as soon as there is a new batch of equipment. With his prices, you always have to move quickly. Alas, the 521 is now sold. For alternatives, please check my past reviews:-)
Hi, do you think a Wadia 2000 used now, latest version for around 2.000 euro, is a good choice today?
thank you

Also the 27i?
thank you
